Ninth Annual 'Swing Into Spring' Next Week

Stratford and area Community Living are back again for the Ninth annual "Swing Into Spring" event.

It's happening at Knox Presbyterian Church on Thursday May 24th from 6:00pm to 10:00pm.

Local residents can enjoy a buffet dinner, entertainment and bid on over 100 items during the live and silent auction.

Some auction items include an overnight stay in Montreal, a fire truck ride, an interactive dinner party and a skate and pizza party with the Stratford Cullitons.

Mayor Dan Mathieson and CJCS Morning Man Eddie Matthews will emcee the event.

Tickets are thirty dollars per person or twelve dollars for children 12 and under.

All proceeds will go to support Community Living.

St. Anne's Concert Band wins Silver in Ottawa

The St. Anne's Catholic Secondary School Concert Band competed at MusicFest Nationals in Ottawa on Wednesday.

The band was awarded a Silver standing in their class of the competition.

In only its second year as a competitive ensemble, the St. Anne's concert band qualified to attend this National competition by achieving a Silver Award with Distinction at MusicFest Regionals in March.

The St. Anne's Concert Band is made up of over 40 students who range from Grades 9 to 12.

Seaforth Public School Closing Early Today

Students at Seaforth Public School are getting an early on their long weekend.

A water main leak in the school has forced officials to send the kids home early.

Buses left the school at around 1:00pm.

Stratford Vigil Planned for Victoria Stafford

Stratford residents have organized a candle light vigil for a slain eight year old Woodstock girl.

The vigil for Victoria Stafford is set for Saturday, May 19th in Upper Queen's Park at 7:30pm.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

People are asked to bring their own candles and purple balloons. The purple balloons will be released in Tori's memory.

Purple was Tori's favourite colour so people are also encouraged to wear purple to the event.

Theft from Hesson Church

A 17-year-old Howick Township teen broke the eighth commandment ... and got caught.

Perth County OPP was dispatched to a break-in at the Hesson Christian Fellowship Church last night.

Investigation revealed that sometime between Sunday and Wednesday, someone stole about $4,490 worth of electronic equipment from the building.

As police were investigating the church break-in, a Huron County OPP officer was investigating a break and enter in Fordwich.

The officer went to a suspect's residence in Howick Township where he found the property belonging to the Hesson Christian Fellowship Church.

The male has been charged with "possession of stolen property".

The electronic equipment has been returned to the church.
