A 40 year old North Perth man faces charges after he backed into a police cruiser on Friday. The Perth County OPP in Listowel had parked a cruiser on the west side of Wallace Avenue North, south of Inkerman Street. The officers were investigating a collision in the area. A man entered the driver's seat of a Hyundai Santa Fe which was parked directly in front of the police cruiser. The driver reversed the Santa Fe into the front of the cruiser the sped off. The Santa Fe was followed and was eventually pulled over on Livingstone Ave South. The male driver was arrested for failing to remain at the scene and was administered a roadside breath test which he failed. He also failed two subsequent Intoxylizer breath tests at the North Perth OPP detachment in Listowel. The driver was issued a 90 day driver's licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
